RULES & REGULATIONS OF LAKE MANYARA: Lake Manyara national park is one of the smallest national parks in Tanzania covering an area of only 320 square kilometers most of which as covered by the soda lake, Lake Manyara.

The park is also one of the most visited and popular national parks in the country, and just like the other national parks, Lake Manyara has rules and regulation set up to ensure the safety of the visitors to the park and the wildlife and vegetation within the protected area of the park.

  • The park gates are only open from 6:00 am to 6:00pm. Those who wish to take part in the night game drives need to get authorization from the park authorities and should be escorted by an armed ranger guide.
  • The speed limit while in the park is 50 km/hr. This is to avoid accidents where travel cars might run into the wildlife in the park as a result of over speeding.
  • Always remember that the animals have a right of way. Keep a safe distance when you see then in the road until they move and then you continue.
  • Do not drive off the designated tracks in the park to prevent damaging the vegetation and also getting lost in the park. You will incur the rescue costs.
  • Do not litter in the park or feed the wild animals.
  • Keep inside your safari cars at all times during your game drives within the park.
  • Do not hoot or make any unnecessary noise or sounds while in the park. As a means of catching the animals attention.
  • Do not smoke or light any kind on unsupervised fire while in the park.
  • Pets are not allowed in the national park.
  • Use of drones is not allowed in Lake Manyara national park.
  • Do not remove any specimen from the park, leave the park and everything inside as you have found it.
  • Only set camp and picnic in safe designated places within the park.
